MXTS 2010 Preview: The Henry Clay People

Posted in Music and other Arts by Steve Smith on February 24, 2010

The Henry Clay People are out of Glendale, Calif., but they are no strangers to Austin. They’ve made several appearances at SXSW and ACL, and their most recent album, For Cheap or For Free, actually got a kick start at SXSW a few years ago when Justin Gage met Joey Siara and decided to work together on the album after discovering a mutual affection for music and the HBO series, The Wire. Wire fans? Awesome.

If you haven’t seen them in Austin before, keep in mind that this is a band that has earned the title “best live act in L.A” because of their rollicking high-energy style that has been called “like Stephen Malkmus fronting The Hold Steady.” To get an idea of what you are in for, check them out playing “End of an Empire” and watch the video below for “Something in the Water.”

Trust us, you’ll love these guys.
