MXTS 2010 Preview: Dinosaur Feathers

Posted in Music and other Arts by Steve Smith on March 12, 2010

What do you need to know about the Brooklyn trio called Dinosaur Feathers beyond their super-awesome name? Two words: drum machine. But trust us, you’ve never heard drum machine like this before with acoustic guitar and lush multi-part harmonies layered on top as pleasing as a spring afternoon at Barton Springs. You’d think that a song called “Teenage Whore” would be a better fit for a death-metal band, but instead it sounds like Brian Wilson and Neil Finn fronting the Fleet Foxes. Really? Yes.

The band’s first full-length album, Fantasy Memorial went on sale on March 2. If you want a chance to try before you buy, their four-song EP is available for free download on the band’s website.
