At 4 PM, The Hand on an Eggplant Sub (HOES) competition begins and will run until the last person removes their hand from the sandwich. The winner will get free pizza for a year from Home Slice. New for 2010, is the ability for people to “Sponsor a HOE” by pledging money to the contestants via

To support the HOEs contestants and their supporters who come to cheer them on, Home Slice will continue the party around them with a DJ set from local faves Team Fabrication and a double feature movie screening of the infamous documentary “Hands on a Hard Body” and “The Jerk”.

The Gigantic Raffle has incredible prizes generously donated by local businesses including Hotel St. Cecilia, Collings Guitars, Hotel Havana, Wood House Day Spa, and many more.  Home Slice is getting in on the fun by raffling off the ability for one lucky winner to be the first and only person on Earth (ever) to be able to make reservations at Home Slice for the next year.

The dough tossing competitions will include pizza makers from Home Slice competing against rivals from Hoboken Pies, Mellow Mushroom, Saccone’s, Brooklyn Pies, and Southside Flying Pizza among others.

The pizza eating competition has become one of the most popular events at the Carnival. This is partly due to the fact that it has been dominated the past four years by Chris Floyd, a quiet, unassuming eating machine.

I’m coming into the Home Slice Carnival with the same familiar hunger I’ve had for the past four years, but that’s not all I’m bringing to the table” says Floyd, “I’m also bringing a refined eating technique that I’ve been working on, and I’m planning on eating more than ever on November 20th. Anyone out there who wants a shot at the crown better come strong, and they better be ready for a battle.
