Telekinesis at Music by the Slice 2009

Hey gang.  We are super excited to announce that for the second year in a row, we are partnering with Merge Records to bring you the sweet sounds of several artists from their label to Music by the Slice.  Performance times and details are below.

Stay tuned for more exciting MXTS announcements in the days ahead!!!!!

Telekinesis – Their second full length was just released and it’s awesome.  These guys rocked our stages in 2009 and also had my favorite t-shirt of any of the nearly 200 bands we’ve hosted over the years.  (those of you know me, it’s the one with the raccoon.) It’s impossible to be sad while listening to these guys though we dare you to try.  They perform Saturday, March 19th at 4:40 PM.

Wye Oak performing at MXTS 2010

Wye Oak – Baltimore duo highly anticipated new release comes out in March.  These guys were with us last year and BLEW EVERYONE AWAY.  Don’t miss them in 2011.  They perform Saturday, March 19th at 3:30 PM.

Versus – 90s indie legends are re-united and it feels so… perfect.  We can’t wait to welcome their gritty guitars and girl/guy vocal sounds to our patio.  MXTS trivia:  Versus sibling (look it up, it’s complicated) Plus/Minus headlined the very first day of the very first Music by the Slice ever in 2006. They perform Friday, March 18th at 1:00 PM.

American Music Club – Indie stalwart Mark Eitzel and his band have been putting out music since the 80s.  While we were all rocking our flannel shirts and listening to Ned’s Atomic Dustbin (ok, maybe just me) he was named Songwriter of the Year in 1991 by Rolling Stone magazine. They perform Thursday, March 17th at 5:50 PM.

Apex Manor – Ex-Broken West singer Ross Flourney’s new band put out their first full length and January and we’ve been enjoying its boozy, raucous pop hooks ever since. They perform Thursday, March 17th 3:30 PM.

Times New VikingNew to the label, this Ohio trio’s 5th record arrives in April.  Often compared to Guided by Voices for their lo-fi aesthetic, they have recorded earlier records straight to cassette and VHS because they felt that best captured the sound they sought.  Respected for their live shows, it’s going to be great fun to see them. They perform Saturday, March 19th 2:20 PM.
