Music by the Slice 2011

Home Slice Pizza is stoked to announce Music by the Slice 2011.  This free day party (no rsvp, no badge required) runs March 17-19, from 1 PM to 7 PM daily. This year, for the first time, we are donating all of the profits from bar sales to charity!!!

Our charity for 2011 are the excellent folks over at Urban Rootsa sustainable farming program for young Austinites. Here is a little bit about them:

Now in our fourth year, Urban Roots is a youth development program that uses sustainable agriculture as a means to transform the lives of young people and increases the access of healthy food in Austin. By growing sustainably farmed vegetables, young people work together to serve the community, cultivate farming and business skills, learn the value of meaningful work, and discover how to eat and cook in healthy ways.

Interested in volunteering for the event? Hit us up at PieClub@homeslicepizza.com and we’ll fill you in.

RSVP(not required to attend!)to the Facebook event.

Now, without further adieu, the full lineup:

Special surprise performance by Little Stolen Moments.  It’s at 6:25, but don’t tell anyone because it’s a surprise!

Friday, March 18:

Thursday, March 17:

Do you guys not realize you’re supposed to get a MUSIC PERMIT for these concerts you’ve advertised for SXSW week? How could you not know that, and get all these bands lined up, with all the talk about outdoor music permits and all?

Going rogue like this, you’re gonna piss off all the venues that went through the proper channels to get their permits, not to mention all the ones that tried to go through the proper channels in time, and got denied – like you would’ve been because you’re too close to residences to get a permit. I hope the bands you’ve lined up won’t mind playing WITHOUT amplification!! Dude, you’re screwed.

    Hi Home Slice Pizza,

This is Louie from Man in Space (www.maninspacemusic.com).

Man in Space is an Oakland, CA based, Talking Heads inspired
electro-pop band that will be playing some shows out in Austin, TX for SXSW this week.

I wanted to let you know that if any slots open up on your bill you think we could play, please let me know, since we’d love to add the Music by the Slice showcase to our calendar.

Thanks for your time and hope you have a great week!

    Cheers,

    Louie

  20. [...] Music by the Slice, presented by Home Slice Pizza, is an amazing 3 day series (3/17-19/2011) that takes place at, where else, HOME SLICE.  Great pizza, music, and people.  Their SX party is one I always try to attend.  They have A+ bands and THIS YEAR all the profits from the events go DIRECTLY to Urban Roots, a sustainable farming program for young Austinites.  Be sure to purchase some delicious pizza and a tasty Sweet Leaf Tea to help out a great organization!
